Steve Addazio To Replace Al Golden As Temple Coach, According To Reports
Florida Gators offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will be the next head coach of the Temple Owls, according to the Philadelphia Daily News' Mike Kern. Rivals.com's Tom Dienhart confirmed the report Wednesday afternoon, referring to the deal as "done." Addazio was reportedly interviewed by Temple over the weekend.
Addazio will take over for Al Golden, who's the new Miami Hurricanes head coach. Before taking over as Gators offensive coordinator for the 2010 season, Addazio has primarily been an offensive line coach at Florida, Indiana, Notre Dame, and Syracuse, along with a couple smaller schools.
To say Addazio has been popular during his time as Gators OC would be to lie with zero fear or shame. Our Gators community, Alligator Army, started putting together lists of potential replacements for Addazio over two months ago, when Florida was 4-2.
His offense ranked in the lower half of the SEC in points and yardage despite being stocked with spoils from years of highly ranked recruiting hauls. Among the most popular causes for complaint were his insistence on using Jonathan Brantley as an option quarterback and the general confusion that seemed to grip his players.
