Little Caesars Bowl, FIU Vs. Toledo: Rockets Up 7-0 On Sunday Night Football

Is the Little Caesars Bowl lucky the NFL postponed Vikings-Eagles to Tuesday or what? One of college football’s least compelling bowl matchups is now de facto Sunday Night Football, getting to follow all sorts of playoff-relevant pro football. Lucky scheduling, or does Little Caesars have weather knowledge not afforded the rest of us?

The Toledo Rockets have a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, with a four-yard run by Adonis Thomas capping a five-play, 36-yard drive. Thomas is the box score star so far, with 53 yards already — no other player has more than 18 yards. FIU’s dynamic T.Y. Hilton has touched the ball on the ground, through the air, and on special teams, but has yet to break one.

Early in the second quarter FIU has the ball near midfield, but doesn’t appear to be doing a whole lot with it. The Golden Panthers have almost doubled up Toledo on the clock, but the Rockets have made more significant gains with the ball.
