The 2010 college football postseason rattles on toward Glendale, and it's time to place all your money set aside for Christmas shopping on ridiculous, half-assed bowl games played by largely inept football teams. Degenerate gamblers, start your engines. Now playing: Maryland and East Carolina in the Military Bowl.
The line: Vegas favors the Terps by seven to nine points.
Notable Maryland units: The Terps are shaky when they have the ball, ranking 85th nationally in total offense, though they're 41st in scoring. Their No. 6 ranking in turnover margin gets them out of tight spots. Of particular interest Wednesday will be their middle-of-the road, 62nd-ranked passing defense, for reasons that will become immediately apparent.
Notable East Carolina units: This would be where East Carolina's 7th-ranked passing offense comes in. The Pirates are averaging over 300 yards per game, and rank 12th nationally in scoring.
The pick: Defensively, the Pirates are as atrocious as they are prolific on the scoreboard, but we like the edge they'll have in a high-scoring game, particularly if all they have to do is throw.
The 2010 Military Bowl kicks off at 2:30 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on ESPN. Connect with Maryland fans at SB Nation's Testudo Times, and browse our 2010 college football postseason schedule for a complete list of bowls.
