Meineke Car Care Bowl Matchup Set: Clemson To Take On South Florida

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Meineke Car Care Bowl annually pits two of the lesser teams from two of the lesser BCS conferences. 2010 will be no different.

The Tampa Tribune reports that South Florida and Clemson will hook up for the Meineke Car Care Bowl on New Year's Eve in Charlotte.

That's not a particularly exciting matchup, because the 7-5 Bulls and 6-6 Tigers had unremarkable seasons that were probably best known for upsets that meant more for the teams defeated. Clemson's upset of North Carolina State helped gum up the Wolfpack's bid to go to the ACC Championship Game; South Florida's grind-it-out win over Miami probably doomed Randy Shannon's tenure in Coral Gables, as he was fired just hours after the loss.

This isn't one of the better bowls of this season's bowl schedule, and shouldn't be high on anyone's to-do list but a diehard's. But, on the other hand, Charlotte natives might appreciate a break from the Carolina Panthers' brand of football.
