BBVA Compass Bowl: Pittsburgh, Kentucky Will Match Up In Birmingham

Stay connected with SB Nation

If two teams that had middling seasons meeting in early January in Birmingham sounds like something that would interest you, the BBVA Compass Bowl is right up your alley!

The bowl, formerly known as the Papa John's Bowl and previously named for the pizza company's website, will pit Kentucky and Pittsburgh against each other at noon Eastern on January 8.

Does that sound like something you might not care about? Well, Pittsburgh's got a pair of very talented running backs in Dion Lewis and Ray Graham; either is capable of going for 200 yards in a bowl game. And Kentucky's versatile Randall Cobb may be playing his last game as a collegian: look for him to have a good game in order to boost his NFL Draft stock.

If I haven't sold you on this game yet, I never will. There's just not that much more to recommend it.

Bowl selections will continue to roll in all night, and we'll be following them all right here. Stay tuned to this StoryStream through the selection show, browse our complete college football 2010 postseason schedule, and connect with Kentucky and Pittsburgh fans at SB Nation's A Sea of Blue and Cardiac Hill.
