The 2010 Ray Guy Award, honoring the nation's best punter, goes to Chas Henry of the Florida Gators, a team that made frequent and excellent use of the position this season. Henry is the first Florida player to receive this particular honor, bestowed by the Greater Augusta Sports Council. This is the second consecutive year an SEC player has been so awarded; Henry follows Georgia's Drew Butler.
The senior with the foot of gold averaged 46.4 yards per punt in 2010 for the Gators, up three yards from his identical 2008 and 2009 averages.
In receiving his award, Henry was asked about Urban Meyer's recent departure, and among his remarks, said, "There's nothing more he could have done for that university." Before message boards get their panties aflutter, please be assured he seemed to mean it in a nice way.
