In Progress: Georgia Tech Vs. NC State
Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Russell Wilson threw for 368 yards and three touchdowns, leading the NC State Wolfpack to a 45-28 win over ACC rival Georgia Tech at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
NC State (4-0, 1-0 ACC) is now the lone remaining unbeaten team in the conference, with Boston College being shutout by Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon. Wilson completed passes to 11 different receivers in the win, while Mustafa Greene caught four of those passes for 41 yards and also rushed for 68 yards and a score.
Quarterback Joshua Nesbitt paced Georgia Tech's (2-2, 1-1) option attack with 95 yards on 19 carries, and he added 116 yards and a touchdown through the air.
NC State drew first blood late in the first quarter, when Jarvis Williams recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a 7-0 lead.
Wolfpack kicker Josh Czajkowski made it a 10-0 game with a 35-yard field goal at the 13:22 mark of the second quarter.
Georgia Tech got on the board with 2:30 to play until halftime, as Orwin Smith found the end zone on a 10-yard scamper to cut the deficit to 10-7.
But the Wolfpack executed its two-minute offense and Wilson hooked up with Steven Howard for a 21-yard scoring strike with 22 seconds on the clock.
The Yellow Jackets opened the second half with a quick scoring drive, as Roddy Jones scored on a four-yard run to draw to within 17-14.
NC State quickly regained the momentum, and Wilson connected with Williams for a five-yard touchdown pass to make it a 24-14 game.
The Wolfpack pushed its lead to 31-14 on Wilson's six-yard touchdown run at the 4:01 mark of the third quarter.
Georgia Tech trimmed the lead to 31-21 with just under 13 minutes to play in the fourth quarter, when Nesbitt tossed a 32-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Melton.
Less than a minute later, Tech's Jerrard Tarrant cut the deficit to 31-28 on a 33-yard interception return.
But the Yellow Jackets would draw no closer, as Wilson answered with a 23-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Graham at the 8:31 mark of the fourth quarter.
NC State's Greene provided the final margin with a four-yard touchdown run with four minutes to play.
The Wolfpack held a 27-15 edge in first downs and out-gained the Yellow Jackets in total offense, 527-363.
