Stay connected with SB Nation

As bowl season begins to wind down, we continue our look at each and every bowl to prepare make you, dear reader, the most knowledgeable college football fan in the land. Up next: The 2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl on Jan. 6.

Proper name: The GoDaddy.com Bowl, brought to you by the makers of those cute little ads that usual air during the Super Bowl.

Setting: Ladd Peebles Stadium in beautiful Mobile, Alabama. Yes, Ladd Peebles is a high school stadium.

Traditional conference pairing: Sun Belt versus MAC.

2010 matchup: Middle Tennessee versus Miami of Ohio.

Announcers: A fearsome foursome of ESPN announcers have the call for this one. Carter Blackburn on the play-by-play, Brock Huard and Mike Bellotti on the color and Eamon McAnaney working the sidelines.

Weather: Thunderstorms with a 90 percent chance of rain. Lows in the mid-40s, highs in the mid-60s. This is going to be fantastic football weather.

Neatest fact: The Sugar Bowl was born out of envy. The West Coast had the Rose Bowl, Florida had the Orange Bowl and New Orleans had nothing. A one-man crusade ended all that and gave us some delicious, bourbon-aided football.

Closest finish: Twice the bowl was decided by a field goal in double overtime. The latest such occurrence came last year, when Central Michigan beat Troy, 44-41

Most lopsided finish: In 2008, Tulsa whipped Bowling Green in what was then known as the GMAC Bowl, 63-7

Tidbits of interest: Byron Leftwich won back-to-back MVPs in the bowl, taking home the award in 2001 and 2002 while at Marshall. Last year's MVP award went to Central Michigan quarterback Dan LeFevour. Miami of Ohio won its only appearance in the GoDaddy.com Bowl, beating Louisville in 2003, 49-28. This will be Middle Tennessee State's first appearance.

The GoDaddy.com Bowl kicks off at 8 p.m. EST, Wednesday, January 6. The game will be televised on ESPN.
