GoDaddy.com Bowl, Miami (Ohio) Vs. Middle Tennessee State: RedHawks Pick-Six, But Blue Raiders Have An Answer

We're off to a rip-roaring start in the second half of the 2011 GoDaddy.com Bowl, where a second quarter ended by an Austin Boucher interception is about to find its parallel in the third.

It's immediately apparent that the RedHawks have Dwight Dasher's number right about now, or at least that of his O-line. First and 10 for Middle Tennessee State rapidly becomes second and 26 as Dash is chased further and further back, into his own endzone. An 11-yard run gives the Blue Raiders a not-insurmountable 15 yards to gain on third down, but the now-beleaguered quarterback makes a hilariously ill-advised throw, into triple coverage and aimed at a receiver who isn't even looking for the ball -- but freshman RedHawks cornerback Dayonne Nunley is. Nunley engages in some Family Circus-style running, weaving his way downfield for what will be called a 52-yard interception return but probably required 70 yards of running. With 13:51 remaining in the third quarter, Miami leads MTSU, 21-14.

As is apparently the fashion in this game, the Blue Raiders answer immediately, with Phillip Tanner wriggling free from an apparently stopped pile of defenders and offenders to streak down the left sideline for a 54-yard touchdown. With 12:55 remaining in the third quarter, Miami and MTSU are tied, 21-21.
