The Miami RedHawks made history in the GoDaddy.com Bowl with interim head coach Lance Guidry at the helm. The RedHawks went from double-digit losses in 2009 to double-digit wins in 2010 with a 35-21 win over Middle Tennessee State in the GoDaddy.com Bowl, the first time such a feat has been accomplished in Division One football. After winning just one game last season, the RedHawks made a remarkable turnaround, finishing with 10 wins and a bowl game trophy.
And speaking of the trophy, what an impressive award it is (via BubbaProg).
In a wild game that featured a rumblin', bumblin', stumblin' interception return and frantic bouts of scoring, the RedHawks scored the final 14 points of the game to walk away with a 10 point win.
Miami quarterback Austin Boucher and running back Thomas Merriweather accounted for almost all of the offense, including all four offensive touchdowns. Boucher passed for 288 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while Merriweather ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Nick Harwell caught the final touchdown pass of the game, finishing with a game-high 93 yards and a touchdown on seven catches. Chris Givens also caught a touchdown on what turned out to be the game-winning score.
For Middle Tennessee State, quarterback Dwight Dasher struggled in the passing game, throwing four interceptions on the night. Dasher did finish as the Blue Raiders leading rusher as he finished with 17 carries for 93 yards. Phillip Tanner added 87 yards and two touchdowns on the ground for the Blue Raiders.
