Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey will give the Alabama defense the stiffest test they've had yet, while quarterbacks Jeff Brantley and A.J. McCarron will just be hoping to avoid turnovers. It's No. 12 Florida against No. 3 Alabama.
For most college football fans, the Wisconsin-Nebraska clash is the game of the week. However, there's a clash of potentially equal importance going on at the exact same time in the SEC, as the Alabama Crimson Tide travel to Gainesville to take on the Florida Gators. Will Muschamp and his staff have the Gators off to a great 4-0 start, and with their offensive speed and the crowd at The Swamp behind them, Florida is thinking upset.
Of course, that won't be easy. Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps have run all over their early opponents, but Alabama is nothing like Tennessee and Kentucky. Nick Saban's team has arguably the most talented defense in the country and a very talented runner of their own in Trent Richardson.
Alabama's superior defense gives them the edge over Florida, but Demps and Rainey just might be talented enough to nullify that advantage. This game could come down to quarterback play, where both teams have major question marks. A.J. McCarron and Jeff Brantley are talented players who have had some bright spots this season, but both are prone to bad errors.
Game date, time: 8:00 pm ET, Saturday, October 1
Location: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville, Florida
TV channel: CBS
Spread: Alabama favored by 4
