The battle of the Bulldogs underway in Athens is going strongly in the direction of the Bulldogs. Um, the Georgia Bulldogs, who hold a 14-3 lead about midway through the second quarter.
So far, Aaron Murray has thrown for 80 yards and a pair of touchdowns, completing seven of his 10 passes. Or eight, if you count the interception he threw moments ago to Nickoe Whitley with the Bulldogs (Georgia variety) in Bulldog (Mississippi State variety) territory. The scoring tosses have gone to Malcolm Mitchell and Orson Charles.
The State offense has had slightly less success than Georgia. Chris Relf was sacked three times in the first quarter -- and a fourth time in the second -- driving the average rush for Mississippi State to less than a yard. The early line of 8-of-12 for 80 yards by Relf passing isn't bad, but the Bulldogs (Mississippi State variety) offense is built on running the ball -- something they'll need to do well to get the road win.
