Much of the attention on Illinois this week has focused on them getting out to a 4-0 start for the first time in 60 years. The Illini are going to have to fight back from trailing 14-10 at halftime to get to 4-1.
For Northwestern, as usual, the offense is getting a boost from quarterback Dan Persa. He's only 5-of-9 for 48 yards, but that completions have included two touchdown passes, one to Drake Dunsmore for six yards and Jeremy Ebert for three. MIke Trumpy has 50 yards on nine carries for the Wildcats.
Illinois' quarterback play also hasn't exactly been shabby. Nathan Scheelhaase has gone 9-of-15 passing for 173 yards, a touchdown and a pick -- and almost another touchdown on a pass to the end zone that was called back on an iffy offensive pass interference call right before the half. But Derek Dimke knocked through a field goal as time expired to cut the deficit to four.
