Brady Hoke might not have been the most popular hire in Ann Arbor -- but so far, so good. And he will not be the most popular hire in the state of Minnesota for a while.
The new Michigan coach opened his Big Ten career with a 58-0 clobbering of Minnesota, an annihilation highlighted by touchdowns in each quarter of the game and four in the second, when it became clear that the Golden Gophers had no hope of securing the jug this year. The beatdown included the Wolverines outgaining the visitors 580-177 in total offense.
Denard Robinson had a pedestrian-for-him 220 yards of total offense, going 15-of-19 for 169 yards and two touchdowns passing and adding 51 yards and a score on the ground. Fitzgerald Toussaint added 108 yards and another score on 10 carries.
