The TCU Horned Frogs looked out of their game against the SMU Mustangs until the final quarter of play. But 23 points (16 unanswered) told us they weren't going to go quietly. Casey Pachall's four-yard pass to Luke Shivers put the game at 33-32 and the extra point tied it up at 33.
That last touchdown pass was Pachall's third of the quarter and his shorted. He had an 8-yarder and an 11-yarder. On the latter, the team went for and failed on the two-point conversion. But kicker Ross Evans made up for his with a 29-yard field goal.
After Pachalls four-yard touchdown play, the ensuing kickoff saw TCU commit a 15-yard face mask penalty. Starting at the 50-yard line, J.J. McDermott had a great chance to lead the Mustangs to victory. However, he threw incompletions on the first two plays and came up with just seven yards on the third-down pass. SMU punted and sent the game into overtime.
