Florida Gators wide receiver Andre Debose has five catches this year and 15 since 2010. Florida quarterback John Brantley has thrown one career pass of longer than 51 yards -- it was a dumpoff that Chris Rainey took 83 yards. These things have changed.
On the first play of the game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, Brantley found Debose for a 65-yard touchdown. This came after a flutter of penalties on the opening kick and the ensuing kick, which went out of bounds.
Needless to say this is quite a surprise. Nobody bombs Bama's defense, and Florida's been considered a much better running team than a passing team (this is because they run the ball all the time and are pretty good at it). If A.J. McCarron comes out firing in response, we'll know something's very off at Ben Hill Griffin.
