Texas Vs. Iowa State Final Score: Longhorns Trample Cyclones, 37-14

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Iowa St. Cyclones weren't just going to lie on the ground and wait to be shutout by the Texas Longhorns. That's the way things looked like through three quarters of play, as the Longhorns were up, 34-0. But James White and Steele Jantz weren't going to keep things like that.

Jantz, who was 28-of-51 for 251 yards, directed an 86-yard drive that resulted in White scoring a two-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. After a couple of stalled drives by both teams, Jantz finally found the end zone with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Chris Young.

For Texas, David Ash and Case McCoy each wound up 7-of-12, though Ash came up with two nice touchdown throws. Mike Davis and Jaxon Shipley caught a 48-yard and a 40-yard touchdown pass from Ash in the second quarter. The Longhorns also returned a seven-yard punt for a 37-yard touchdown.

The Longhorns (4-0) face the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Shootout next week.
