South Carolina has struggled with Mississippi State this Saturday, but the Gamecocks, regarded as SEC East contenders, may have a bigger worry on their hands: Marcus Lattimore has suffered a leg injury and left the game, leaving the Gamecocks without their go-to offensive option.
Lattimore was engaged in a block when he was contacted by another player, and got his leg tied up and rolled underneath him. It's unclear what part of Lattimore's leg, specifically, sustained the injury, but ESPN's Cara Capuano reported that Lattimore had his left knee examined on the sideline, and that the Gamecocks consider his return uncertain.
Lattimore had been unusually ineffective for South Carolina on the day, running 17 times for just 39 carries. Bruce Ellington and Brandon Wilds will likely handle running back duties in his absence.
