Notre Dame Vs. Purdue Final: Cierre Wood Goes Off In 38-10 Win

Stay connected with SB Nation

Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back Cierre Wood could not be stopped by the Purdue Boilermakers, rushing for 191 yards on 20 carries and 1 rushing touchdown. The Irish took a quick 21-0 lead in the second quarter and never looked back. Irish quarterback Tommy Rees had a nice night, completing 24 of 40 passes for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns. Wide receiver Malcom Floyd caught 12 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Notre Dame did what they wanted on offense and Purdue was powerless to stop it.

Not only could Purdue not do anything defensively, but they were even worse offensively. Purdue had just 276 yards total for the night, much of that picked up in the second half when the game was already over. The Boilermakers were held to just 84 rushing yards and didn't far much better passing the football. Purdue played both quarterbacks, Robert Marve and Caleb TerBush, but neither was effective.
