VIDEO: Florida QB John Brantley's Knee Injury Against Alabama

Stay connected with SB Nation

John Brantley was sacked on back-to-back plays late in the second quarter of Florida's game against Alabama, including this hit which knocked him out of the game for good:

The extent of Brantley's injury is still unknown. As you can see above, his right knee took most of the damage, and he clearly favored the leg as he left the field. After reaching the sidelines, he was carted off the field to the locker room.

Before leaving, Brantley connected on 11-of-16 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown -- a 65-yard pass to Andre Debose. True freshman Jeff Driskel replaced Brantley was ineffective throwing the ball -- he connected on just 2-of-6 attempts for 14 yards, though he did show flashes running the ball, notching a long gain of 31 yards on the ground. Driskell was thrown into the fire against an elite Alabama defense, and things won't get much easier if he's forced to start next week in place of Brantley when the Gators travel to Baton Rouge to face LSU.
