Texas Vs. Iowa State Final Score: Longhorns Trample Cyclones, 37-14

The Iowa St. Cyclones weren't just going to lie on the ground and wait to be shutout by the Texas Longhorns. That's the way things looked like through three quarters of play, as the Longhorns were up, 34-0. But James White and Steele Jantz weren't going to keep things like that.

Jantz, who was 28-of-51 for 251 yards, directed an 86-yard drive that resulted in White scoring a two-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter. After a couple of stalled drives by both teams, Jantz finally found the end zone with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Chris Young.

For Texas, David Ash and Case McCoy each wound up 7-of-12, though Ash came up with two nice touchdown throws. Mike Davis and Jaxon Shipley caught a 48-yard and a 40-yard touchdown pass from Ash in the second quarter. The Longhorns also returned a seven-yard punt for a 37-yard touchdown.

The Longhorns (4-0) face the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Shootout next week.

Texas Vs. Iowa State Update: Longhorns Keep Lead Static At 34-0

Maybe the Texas Longhorns decided to show mercy to the Iowa St. Cyclones during the second half of their Saturday game. After scoring 34 points in the first half, the Longhorns haven't put any points on the board. But Iowa State hasn't either, remaining on the wrong end of a potential shutout.

Texas attempted just six passes in the third quarter and has yet to possess the ball in the fourth quarter. Malcolm Brown and Foswhitt Whittaker have 55 and 50 yards on the ground, respectively. Jaxon Shipley is the top Longhorns receiver with four receptions for 116 yards a touchdown reception.

Iowa State has relied on Steele Jantz to pass the ball. He is 23-of-42 for 201 yards. Darius Reynolds has caught seven of those for 107 yards.

Texas Vs. Iowa State Score: Longhorns Lead Cyclones At Halftime, 34-0

The Texas Longhorns lead the Iowa St. Cyclones at halftime, 34-0, on a couple of long touchdown passes and alert special team plays. Quarterback David Ash threw touchdown passes of 48 yards and 40 yards to Mike Davis and Jaxon Shipley after getting off to a slow start. Ash is 4-of-8 for 113 yards, while Case McCoy has seen limited time on the field.

The Longhorns special teams were alert on a late second-quarter punt by Iowa State. The punt came at the Cyclones' own 27-yard line and went just seven yards. Josh Turner returned the ball 34 yards for a touchdown. Kicker Justin Tucker added two field goals in the first quarter.

Malcolm Brown leads the Longhorns with 34 yards on the ground, but Foswhitt Whittaker has the 16-yard touchdown run.

For Iowa State, quarterback Steele Jantz has put the ball in the air 22 times, connected on 12 of them and put one in the hands of the Longhorns. Are the Cyclones ready to withstand the Longhorns in the second half?
