The Florida State Seminoles and the Maryland Terrapins are teams headed in the same direction — down — halfway through their season, but they'll be trying to turn it around on national television Saturday afternoon.
Florida State blew out Duke last week to end their three-game losing streak. Two of those losses were to Top 10 opponents, undefeated Oklahoma and Clemson. The Seminoles could have been given a pass had they not lost the following game to Wake Forest. Now, the Seminoles sit at 3-3, 1-2 in the ACC, and must win out to have a prayer of making the ACC Championship game. They're talented enough to do it, riding the arm of preseason All-ACC first-teamer QB E.J. Manuel, who has been getting better as the year has gone on, but it remains to be seen if Jimbo Fisher can develop any consistency.
Maryland is a team that has yet to find an identity, unless injury-prone is an identity. In the Terps' last game against Clemson, they were up 35-17 in the second half before they allowed Clemson's plethora of playmakers to take over the game. With injuries to their entire starting linebacker corps, not to mention a safety and defensive end, it's going to be mighty hard for the Terps to stop their slide, even if new starting quarterback C.J. Brown is one of the fastest signal callers in the country.
