After a quiet first quarter, Kansas State and Kansas both got in gear in the second period in Lawrence. But while the Jayhawks scored two touchdowns, the Wildcats got three and a field goal for a 31-14 halftime lead.
Collin Klein scored two more rushing touchdowns in the second quarter, bringing him to three on the day and 13 on the season. The Wildcats' signal caller completed 11 of 15 passes for 176 yards and ran for 62 yards in the first half against a Kansas defense that has been gutted repeatedly in 2011.
But the Jayhawks have had a little success through the air of their own, with Jordan Webb completing 16 of 21 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown.
It's Kansas' six penalties for 62 yards that have really torpedoed their chances so far in this one.
