Jaamal Berry, Ohio State running back, was reportedly involved in a second fight and is facing a lawsuit as a result.
The Ohio St. Buckeyes have suspended sophomore running back Jaamal Berry due to a code of conduct violation, the school announced. That's one way to describe being sued for allegedly beating up a man just weeks after reportedly getting in a fight involving teeth used as weapons.
According to the alleged victim of the latest incident, Berry punched a man who'd just been hit by a car. He also said Berry bragged about the dustup minutes later. The victim attempted to get an ethnic intimidation charge tacked on, but wasn't able to. I don't really know what that means.
Berry hasn't played since the first alleged fight, which is still being investigated as a misdemeanor assault. In games this season against Toledo, Miami and Colorado, he's compiled 19 yards on five touches

Ohio St. Buckeyes running back Jaamal Berry has been hit with a lawsuit which accuses him of attacking a 21-year-old man who sustained injuries to his head, face, neck, back and hand that required medical treatment on Friday.
The plaintiff has chosen "John Doe" status because he fears retaliation and is seeking at least $25,000 in compensatory and punitive damages.
The lawsuit consists of two counts: Assault and battery, and ethnic intimidation. The plaintiff alleges that Berry, who is black, yelled vulgarities at him before the attack and bragged to an independent witness after the attack that, "I just (expletive) up a white kid."
This would be different than the fight Berry got into on Wednesday, which is being investigated as misdemeanor assault.
Ohio State coach Luke Fickell said, "The legal process is going to take its time, and we’re going to go with that. That’s all we can do as a team and a program right now. Legal issues-wise, we’ve got nothing from the prosecutor."
Berry's status is on hold for this weekend's game against Wisconsin.
Berry has five touches for 19 yards this season.

Ohio St. Buckeyes running back Jaamal Berry had one hell of a Wednesday morning. According to a report in The Lantern, Ohio State's student paper, Berry got into some sort of a fight that police have termed misdemeanor assault. The report cites bruises on necks, teeth used as weapons, and a delirious Berry unable to remember how he wound up on the ground by himself. He was then admitted to and released from the Ohio State Medical Center.
It's important to note no charges have been filed, but this is intense stuff:
At about 10:25 a.m., two males were witnessed "wrestling on the ground" in the South Oval, according to the police report. The primary witness is a university employee who declined to comment, but said in the police report that Berry was muttering things such as "I don't know what is going on around me."
Coach Luke Fickell told the Columbus Dispatch the program's concern is for Berry's health and not his legal status. If this same thing occurred on a field, you'd presume a concussion until told otherwise, wouldn't you?
Berry has five touches for 19 yards this season.

Jaamal Berry No Longer On Ohio State Football Team
Ohio State running back Jaamal Berry was suspended from the team in November after being involved in a his second fight just a month after another alleged fight. Berry is being sued for allegedly beating up a man just a few weeks after being accused of using his teeth as a weapon in a fight. Berry is now no longer part of the Ohio State football team according to his attorney.
"My understanding is that ... (Berry's) desire would be to transfer somewhere else and so he could potentially get playing time. Whether he goes back to Florida or whether he goes somewhere else to go to school, I don't know," Robert Tobias, the assistant city prosecutor assigned to the case, told The Lantern. "It was told to me by the defense attorney that he was not on the team anymore and that he had a desire to relocate for school somewhere else out of state."
An Ohio State spokesperson however syas that Berry is still under scholarship in a statement to the Columbus Dispatch, "Officially, he is still on scholarship. He is not working out with the team, and he has not been involved with the team since October."
