The Nebraska Cornhuskers offense was good on Saturday, but the defense is what really should get the credit as Michigan State was held to a single field goal on the road at Memorial Stadium. Nebraska entered the game as the 14th-ranked team while the Spartans came in as No. 11 in the rankings, but that will probably be switched on Sunday after Nebraska's 24-3 victory.
The Cornhuskers finished the game with just 266 total yards while holding the Spartans to just 187 including only 86 through the air. Quarterback Taylor Martinez did what it took to win the Big 10 conference match-up, however, leading three touchdown drives while throwing a touchdown to Rex Burkhead to ice the game.
Michigan State certainly struggled on offense as Kirk Cousins completed only 11 of his 27 passing attempts for 86 yards and an interception. The running backs weren't much better, either, leading to Sparty converting on just three of its 14 third-down attempts.
