The Clemson Tigers entered Atlanta undefeated and with the highest BCS rating in school history. But the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets looked like the better team from the start, rolling to a 24-3 lead and holding on to take a 31-17 victory as Tech fans rushed the field.
The Jackets allowed 396 yards, including 153 by Sammy Watkins, but forced four turnovers. Tech quarterback Tevin Washington rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns and even threw for a few dozen in there, but nobody really pays attention to that.
With Kansas State also falling and Stanford in trouble, Rick Reilly's title game doomsday scenario is becoming more humorous almost by the minute. If the Cardinal can't come back, we're down to four unbeatens: LSU, Alabama, Boise State and Oklahoma State. And after next Saturday, it'll be three at most.
