Read More: Missouri Tigers
The SEC and Big 12 have each pretty much already confirmed the Missouri Tigers will switch conferences. The SEC accidentally announced the move, while the Big 12 didn't list Mizzou as a likely 2012 member. So what, pray tell, are we still waiting on?
Missouri appears to be the most thorough school in the nation. The latest sign that actual progress is being made, though, is the news that chancellor Brady Deaton has canceled a nine-day trip to handle business closer to home. Deaton has been granted the sole power to make a conference move, so it's kind of important to have him nearby.
So ... within nine days we can be done with this round of conference realignment, yes? Please?
For more, keep checking Mizzou blog Rock M Nation and SB Nation Kansas City, plus SEC blog Team Speed Kills. And stay tuned here for more conference realignment news.

Define "done"
We’ll be done when ….
The Big East announces (or doesn’t announce) an invitation to Houston.
And SMU.
And Central Florida.
And possibly East Carolina and/or Temple.
And possibly a football-only invitation to Air Force.
And Boise State.
And Navy.
And we find out when West Virginia can actually leave the Big East.
And the departure dates of Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
And we find out whether or not Conference USA teams will be able to leave early or not.
And …
Assumption is the mother of all @#%-ups.

At this point, with the way the Big East has been moving, conference realignment will wrap up at some point between now and 2014.

Seriously Jason Kirk, enough with the attitude.
If you don’t like conference realignment then stop covering it and let someone else do it who can give an update without a whiny comment at the end of each one.
People that are annoyed with conference realignment are probably avoiding reading stories about it constantly.
Your readers read your updates on the process because they are interested and facinated by what is going on.

As someone who is not only reading about conference realignment but writing about it
I’m kind of sick of the whole thing as well. It’s interesting — but it would be far more interesting if it were taking place outside of the season. I’m a football fan, not a realignment fan.

I get what your saying
but just because you’re sick of it doesn’t mean all your readers are. If they were, they probably wouldn’t still be reading.
I don’t get the difference between it happining now or in the offseason. For the most part football games are only on the weekends. During the week conference realignment news is by far the most interesting thing to read about. I’m a football fan on Saturdays and a realignment fan during the week. Yes I wish it would develop quicker, but in the meantime it is fun to think up all the different hypothetical new conference divisions!
