Giving this about as much seriousness as it deserves. There's three paragraphs about Tulane in the following realignment story, and all three come off as a desperate plea for someone to think of the Green Wave.
The source said that Tulane would become a viable option for the Big 12 if it were to grab four schools to beef up the membership to 12, in a situation where BYU decides it doesn't want to leave its football independence or its new tie to the WCC in all other sports. Tulane is interesting to the Big 12 because of its location in New Orleans and in a state, Louisiana, where the Big 12 is absent, as well as the school's renewed commitment to sports and facilities after Hurricane Katrina.
No. No way. Never. Not a chance. Stop.
This has to end. I get it: nobody wants to be left behind. But when Tulane is leaking realignment related things to ESPN, it's over. This has gone too far.

Tulane is a good option
and i have mentioned them weeks ago.
Good academics.
Good location (New Orleans)
Good national name recognition.
Good rivalry with LSU (SEC)
mediocre football team, but you get better by playing good teams regularly (Big 12 has plenty) and better financial support for the athletic (which being part of an AQ will yield)
Tulane should be given serious consideration.

Yeah --
After all, without Nebraska, the Big 12 is just Conference USA plus Texas and Oklahoma…

Big 12 is not in a position to take teams from the Big 10 or the SEC
that is the reality
that leaves Big East, MWC, and C-USA

So, Brian, what are you....
an LSU fan?
Tulane is a good option, as fracas mentioned earlier.
1. Academics
2. Location
3. 100+ year football history
4. large metropolitan area television market
5. Louisiana recruiting territory, among the best in the nation.
6. Texas wants them in the Big XII (to expand The Longhorn Nextwork coverage)
So, how many of these positives does Boise State bring to the table? Or BYU, or West Virginia or Louisville, for that matter.
Tulane is an excellent fit for the Big XII.

Yeah recruiting
Some kind from South LA wants to play big time college football. He’s sure to pick Tulane, or “insert big 12 team that will compete against tulane” before going to LSU. GTFO

And by the way....
Conference commissioners and university presidents DO look further than your current W-L record. Good thing you’re not in charge.
