Mississippi State has just scored to take a lead, but this week's most unlikely upset alert is coming out of Birmingham -- where the once-ranked Bulldogs are in a pitched battle with the UAB Blazers, if you can call a 7-3 game in which both teams might struggle to put together 300 yards yards of total offense a "pitched battle."
UAB held a 3-0 lead at the half, an edge that seemed like it just might be enough to win this one. That was before Tyler Russell hit Marcus Green for an 18-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to give Mississippi State a 7-3 lead.
There is, though, still plenty of time for State to do what no SEC team should ever do -- drop a game to a winless Conference USA squad. That means we could end the day with the head coaches of both of MIssissippi's BCS programs on the hot seat.
