The ACC is doing better than anticipated in the college football rankings, but it isn't conference royalty Florida State and Virginia Tech anchoring it in theS Week 7 AP Poll Top 25 and the Week 7 USA Today coaches poll.
Clemson (No. 8 AP/No. 8 coaches) and Georgia Tech (No. 12 AP/No. 12 coaches) are the highest-rated ACC teams in the college football rankings, and both undefeated schools are dark horses in the race for a BCS National Championship. They play in November, but could conceivably both be undefeated for that match-up; if so, it's possible that the winner of that game will be in the mix for a BCS National Championship Game berth.
Meanwhile, Virginia Tech (No. 17 coaches/No. 19 AP) gains a bit of ground back with a win over Miami after losing for the first time in Week 5, and Florida State falls out of both polls after its third loss of the season.
