Houston Vs. Tulane Final Score: Cougars Can Put Up Points Real Fast

Stay connected with SB Nation

Houston didn't score in the first quarter, and still put up 73 points. And those 73 points? Well they came in just under 18 minutes of possession. Poor Tulane never stood a chance, but that scoreless first quarter is something to hang a hat on. The end result was a 73-17 win as Houston remained undefeated on the year.

It was another explosive display by the Houston offense as the Cougars broke out of a slump in the second quarter to throttle the Green Wave. Case Keenum was his usual self, throwing for 324 yards and three touchdowns before taking the rest of the night off before the third quarter came to a close. Cotton Turner hopped into the mix and kept the ball rolling, throwing for 113 yards and a touchdown. Even Crawford Jones completed his only pass, though it went for just five yards.

While the passing game was out in force as expected, the Houston rushing attack sprang to life, as well. Charles Sims rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns on 10 (!!!) carries to lead the way. Turner also rushed for a touchdown, making for a productive quarter-plus of work.
