It appears that Georgia and Auburn are determined not to face the same offensive criticisms that were flung at LSU and Alabama after the Game of the Century. In fact, with Georgia holding a 14-7 lead, the teams have already outscored the SEC West titans in the first quarter.
Georgia started the scoring on its first drive, with an eight-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Murray to Tavarres King capping off a 70-yard drive. Auburn answered with a 76-yard touchdown drive that finished on a four-yard trick pass from C.J. Uzomah to Philip Lutzenkirchen. Murray followed that up with a 27-yard scoring strike to Michael Bennett, the conclusion of a 77-yard drive. Murray is 8-of-10 for 123 yards and the two touchdowns.
In all, the teams have combined for 223 yards as we come close to the end of the first quarter. Auburn has the ball again, though, so the score is subject to change. Given the game so far, in fact, the smart money would be on precisely that result.
