BCS Standings, Week 12: Oklahoma State, Oklahoma Still On Big 12 Collision Course

Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are still steaming towards each other, with a Bedlam date looming large for both teams. The Cowboys remained at No. 2 in this week's BCS rankings, and control their own championship fate. But it won't come easy if Oklahoma has anything to say about it.

The No. 6 Sooners are still hanging around the BCS standings despite an embarrassing loss to Texas Tech earlier this season. The Red Raiders, by the way, were lit up by Oklahoma State this past weekend in a 66-6 loss.

The Sooners and Cowboys aren't the lone Big 12 members in the BCS rankings this week, with the conference well-represented in the top-25. Joining the two is Kansas State, who barely survived a thriller on Saturday, at No. 13. Baylor and Texas are bringing up the rear at No. 22 and 23, respectively.

BCS Rankings, Week 12: SEC Continues Strong Showing

Three SEC teams find themselves in the top-10 of the BCS rankings this week, led by No. 1 LSU yet again. The Tigers have a firm grasp on the top spot in the rankings, and are far-and-away the favorites to head to the BCS Championship. But lurking just behind is two familiar SEC foes in Alabama and Arkansas, who both occupy spots in the top-six.

In all, the SEC is well-represented again this week, with five teams within the top-15 of the BCS standings and a sixth inside the top-25. Alabama remained at No. 3, but has quite a bit of ground to make up on No. 2 Oklahoma State. Arkansas is right outside the top-five, holding down the No. 6 spot in this weeks rankings.

Moving farther down the rankings, South Carolina checks in at No. 12 this week, behind Houston and Boise State. Georgia is two spots back at No. 14, with Auburn just inside the top-25 at No. 24 in this week's BCS standings.

Week 12 BCS Standings: Oregon, Stanford Flip-Flop, Still Pace Pac-12

It's still the Oregon and Stanford show for the Pac-12 in the latest BCS Rankings, but things look a bit different than they did last week. Following the Ducks' big win in the Pac-12 North showdown on Saturday, the two teams have flip-flopped, with Oregon leaping into the top-five and Stanford sliding down near the bottom of the top-10.

The Ducks need some help to vault into the BCS Championship, and from the looks of things may not get it. However, Oregon is almost assured of a Rose Bowl berth, given to winner of the first-ever Pac-12 Championship. An early season loss to LSU may have killed the Ducks chance of making a return trip to the title game, but they've bounced back nicely since.

For Stanford, an uphill battle remains, and the Cardinal no longer control their own destiny in the conference. For Stanford to make the Pac-12 title game, it'll need some help, mainly in the form of an Oregon loss. Even still, the Cardinal should stay inside the BCS top-10 for the rest of the season, should they continue to win.

Like last year, it's a two-team affair for the Pac-12 in the BCS Rankings, with no other teams in sight -- the product of a weak South division and a top-heavy North dominated by the aforementioned teams.

College Football Rankings: Harris Poll Gives Alabama Clean Sweep Of No. 3 In Week 12

If you were hoping that the Oregon Ducks' comprehensive defeat of the Stanford Cardinal would help them jump over the Alabama Crimson Tide, today is not your lucky day. The Harris Poll for Week 12 has been released, and Alabama sit at No. 3, just like they did in the AP and Coaches' polls. The Ducks have moved up two spots, to fourth. The Boise State Broncos' loss has send them plummeting, down to No. 11. The Houston Cougars are into the top ten for the first time, while the LSU Tigers are unsurprisingly a unanimous No. 1. Here's the complete poll.

1. LSU
2. Oklahoma State
3. Alabama
4. Oregon
5. Oklahoma
6. Arkansas
7. Stanford
8. Clemson
9. Virginia Tech
10. Houston
11. Boise State
12. Michigan State
13. Wisconsin
14. Georgia
15. South Carolina
16. Nebraska
17. Kansas State
18. Michigan
19. Penn State
20. Southern Miss
21. TCU
22. West Virginia
23. Florida State

College Football Standings: Pac-12 Should Pit Oregon Against UCLA Or Arizona State

The Pac-12 has one division all but settled. The other one is anything but.

Oregon's Week 11 win over Stanford has all but ended the race in the Pac-12 North. The Ducks are 7-0 in conference and have games remaining against USC and Oregon State, but obviously hold a head-to-head tiebreaker against Stanford, 7-1 in conference, and would need to lose both games to not go to the first Pac-12 Championship Game.

The Ducks' likely opponent in that game is still up in the air. The Pac-12 South's best team and current leader, USC, is ineligible to play in the postseason game, which means that UCLA and Arizona State, both 4-3 in conference play, are the likely South representatives. And UCLA beat Arizona State in a wild Week 10 game, meaning that the Bruins control their own destiny.

They would have to win against Colorado and at USC to make an unlikely Pac-12 title a reality, but the Bruins have done odder things in recent years. It would perhaps be odder if Utah, with a losing record in conference play, wins the South — still a possibility, if the Utes win out and UCLA and Arizona State both lose their remaining games.

College Football Standings: Clemson, Virginia Tech On ACC Championship Game Collision Course

The ACC has no chance of a team making the BCS National Championship Game, but the conference will still place one team in the BCS. It's almost a certainty at this point. that that team will be either Clemson or Virginia Tech.

Clemson leads the Atlantic Division with a 5-1 conference record. The second-place team in the division, Florida State, has one more conference loss, but fell to Clemson, so the Tigers have what amounts to a two-game lead. And Clemson has just one more conference game, at North Carolina State in Week 12, so the Tigers are assured of a spot in the ACC Championship Game.

Virginia Tech leads the Coastal Division with a 5-1 conference record, but doesn't have the same cushion Clemson does: second place Virginia plays the Hokies in its season finale. And the Hokies have to get through North Carolina in a primetime game this Thursday to get to that game against the Cavaliers.

If that ACC Championship Game happens, though, the Hokies will be hoping for a different outcome in a rematch: Clemson thumped Virginia Tech, 23-3, in Blacksburg earlier this year.

College Football Standings: Oklahoma State Leads Big 12

The Big 12 won't have a conference championship game in name in 2011, but the Bedlam Game match-up between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma is looking like a de facto title clash.

Oklahoma State is the only Big 12 team with no losses in conference play. Oklahoma is the only Big 12 team with only one loss in conference play. The two teams are on a collision course to meet in Norman in the first week of December and play for a conference championship, a BCS bowl berth, and, in Oklahoma State's case, a chance at a national title.

There are other games left on the Big 12 schedule, but no other team is alive in the conference race. Oklahoma State could lose twice and have Oklahoma lose once, and it still wouldn't help poor Kansas State, which has lost to both Sooner State teams and will lose any potential tiebreakers to those two teams as a result.

The only way the winner of the Bedlam Game doesn't win the Big 12? If Oklahoma loses to Baylor in Week 12, then beats Oklahoma State two weeks later.

College Football Standings: Big Ten Wide Open After Penn State Loss

The Big Ten may have narrowly avoided a public relations catastrophe with Penn State's loss to Nebraska in Week 11. But that loss by the Nittany Lions, previously undefeated in the conference, means that neither the Leaders nor the Legends Division has a sure-thing favorite at the moment.

Penn State still, er, leads the Leaders Division, with a 5-1 record in conference play, but plays at Ohio State and Wisconsin in the next two weeks. Even if the Nittany Lions get past the Buckeyes, the 4-2 Badgers can win the division and earn a Big Ten Championship Game berth with a win over them in Madison in two weeks.

Meanwhile, in the Legends Division, Michigan State is out in front, but must win out to be guaranteed a place in the Big Ten's inaugural title game. That shouldn't be that hard for the Spartans, who must only beat Indiana and Northwestern, but if they lose, Nebraska could play for a Big Ten title in its first year in the conference. That's because the Huskers would win a tiebreaker with the Spartans after beating them 24-3 in Lincoln in October.

And Michigan's still alive, too, but it needs Michigan State to lose twice.

College Football Standings: LSU, Georgia Should Meet For SEC Championship

The SEC has five top-15 teams in the Week 12 college football rankings, which might make it look like a brawl for control of the conference is in the offing. But that's not the case, as LSU controls the SEC West and Georgia controls the SEC East.

The Tigers are the only undefeated team left in the SEC, and have swept all of their East foes (Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee) and have only Mississippi and Arkansas left as conference foes. If the Tigers can beat both teams, they will head to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta in December; if the Razorbacks beat LSU in their Thanksgiving weekend rivalry match-up, though, it's possible that the West winner will be decided by BCS standings.

The East is much simpler: if Georgia beats Kentucky this week, the Bulldogs will go to Atlanta. If the Dawgs lose, though, South Carolina will play in the SEC Championship Game for the second straight year.

College Football Rankings: Alabama No. 3, Oregon No. 4 Spot In Week 12 AP Poll

The Alabama Crimson Tide struggled with Mississippi State in Week 11. But they may have been the big winner of the week: just as in the Week 12 USA Today coaches poll, Alabama is back up to No. 3 in the Week 12 AP Poll, according to AP writer Ralph Russo.

No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Oklahoma State top the poll, but Alabama's just one spot behind the undefeated Cowboys, and it seems likely that the Tide would rise to No. 2 again should Oklahoma State lose.

LSU is also the first unanimous AP No. 1 during the regular season since Texas earned that distinction in 2008.

Meanwhile, Oregon vaults up to No. 4 after the Ducks' upset of Stanford, which slots in at No. 8, Boise State falls to No. 10 after its first loss, Georgia climbs to No. 13 after routing Auburn, and the AP Poll voters rank zero Big East teams after Cincinnati falls out of the top 25.

Here's the full AP poll top 25 for Week 12:

College Football Rankings: Alabama Back To No. 3 In Week 12 USA Today Poll

It didn't take long for the Alabama Crimson Tide to get back within one loss of a possible national championship berth. In the Week 12 USA Today coaches poll, the Tide are No. 3, leading the pack of one-loss teams behind the only two undefeated squads left in BCS automatic qualifier conferences, No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Oklahoma State.

The Tide rose after Stanford lost to Oregon in Week 11, sending the Cardinal down to No. 9 and elevating the Ducks to No. 4. And they were already ahead of Boise State, which falls out of the top 10 to No. 11 after being upset by TCU at home.

The Broncos' loss is Houston's game. The Cougars are the only undefeated team that isn't in a BCS automatic qualifier conference, and show up at No. 10.

Oklahoma is No. 5, rounding out the top five, and is followed by No. 6 Arkansas, No. 7 Virginia Tech, and No. 8 Clemson before Stanford and Houston round out the top 10.

Elsewhere, TCU moved up to No. 19 after knocking Boise State from the unbeaten ranks, Southern Mississippi moved into the top 20 at No. 20 after surviving pesky UCF, and Florida State and Notre Dame re-entered the top 25 at No. 22 and No. 25.

Here's the full USA Today coaches poll top 25 for Week 12:
