Syracuse Safety Phillip Thomas Suspended Indefinitely, According To Reports

According to multiple reports, Syracuse Orange starting safety Phillip Thomas has been suspended indefinitely.

Syracuse Orange starting safety Phillip Thomas has been suspended indefinitely, according to the Post-Standard and Brent Axe.

The suspension puts Thomas in jeopardy of missing the final two games of the season against Cincinnati (Nov. 26) and Pittsburgh (Dec. 3).

Thomas leads the Orange in tackles (82) and is one of the Big East leaders in interceptions (6). He was also named to the preseason All-Big East Team.

Jeremi Wilkes or Olando Fisher will get the start in Thomas' stead if he's still suspended come next week when the Orange host the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Orange have a bye this weekend.

Syracuse's defense has fallen off after a strong 2010 season. Currently giving up over 400 yards a game, it's a big reason the team has dropped three-straight and is in danger of missing bowl eligibility if they can't win one of their two remaining games.
