Unlike the Thursday night ACC game, it's been a high scoring Conference USA affair as the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles trail the UAB Blazers at the half, 24-21. Both teams came out firing, combining for 28 first quarter points. And the action has hardly slowed down.

Southern Mississippi scored the first two touchdowns of the game, jumping out to a 14-0 lead on two long completions by quarterback Austin Davis. The Southern Miss quarterback found Ryan Balentine for 34 yards and the score first, then followed it up with a 38-yard touchdown pass to Kelvin Bolden.

UAB answered with a three-yard touchdown pass from Jonathan Perry to D.J. Vinson, followed by a two-yard Darrin Reaves touchdown run. After Peter Boehme found Ryan Hanks for 10 yards and a touchdown early in the second quarter, it was all UAB headed into the half. The Blazers scored the final 10 points of the frame to take a three-point lead into the break.
