Fan Killed In U-Haul Crash At Harvard-Yale Tailgate, According To Report

Yale and Harvard will renew their storied rivalry today, but tailgating before the game took a tragic turn this Saturday with a U-Haul van crash that reportedly claimed the life of one fan and injured two others, according to New Haven's WFSB-3.

The Yale Daily News reports that the U-Haul was driven by a Yale student, and that all three victims were transported to the hospital, but is not reporting any fatalities. During College GameDay, however, ESPN's Chris Fowler reported one tailgater was killed.

WFSB is reporting that the driver of the U-Haul is in custody and being questioned.

The Daily News reported in 2007 that authorities were considering a ban on trucks and U-Haul vans at the Yale tailgate. Then-Council of Master Chair Judith Krauss told the Daily News that "The potential for injury is high, and we clearly do not want trucks filled with kegs pouring into the tailgate."

It would appear that the worst fears of many were realized in horrific fashion this Saturday.
