The Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers kick off on Friday in what the Big 10 hopes will form into a Legends division rivalry.
The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers haven't played since their 2000 match up when the Cornhuskers crushed Iowa, 42-13. The teams will however meet more often with Nebraska joining the Big 10. Nebraska is coming off a crushing loss to Michigan last week, 45-17, and will be looking to finish out the regular season with a win and improve their bowl options. The Cornhuskers will bring their 14th ranked rushing attack against an Iowa defense he's given up yards in the running game this season. Quarterback Taylor Martinez will look to rebound from last weeks game that saw him complete only 9 passes.
The Hawkeyes on the other hand are coming off a win over Purdue and will be looking to finish with 8 wins on the season after dropping some disappointing games. Quarterback James Vandenberg has let the Hawkeyes be more vertical in their offense instead of relying on the running game like in season's past. "We're going to go into a very tough environment against a very good football team. I really feel like anybody can beat anybody in this conference. We'll see if we can put a good plan together and go over and play hard," Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz said about the game.
Both teams are 4-3 in Big Ten play this season and neither team wants to finish at .500 in conference play.
