The Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers are christening their new Heroes Game rivalry in Lincoln. Thus far, Nebraska kicker Brett Maher is the hero of all heroes, knocking home a 40-yard field goal to release the balloons and make it 3-0. Just before the half, Taylor Martinez found Kyler Reed in the end zone off play action. It's 10-0, Huskers.

Bob Davie, New Mexico's next head coach, is calling the game, leading you to wonder just when he'll have an Urban Meyer moment and refer to Rex Burkhead as "our quarterback," even though Burkhead is not a quarterback and does not play for New Mexico and everybody already knows Davie is New Mexico's next head coach.
Burkhead and Marcus Coker are your offensive heroes, leading their respective teams in total yardage. Martinez and James Vandenberg have combined to complete 10 passes, which makes sense. Burkhead has 19 touches already, for 90 yards.
