It's relatively easy to avoid overlooking the game before your conference championship if it's against your rival. And Georgia isn't looking ahead, if drawing first blood is any indication; the Bulldogs scored late in the first quarter and now hold a 7-3 lead.
Quarterback Aaron Murray was 4-of-4 for 66 yards and the touchdown on the five-play drive, though Tavarres King sure looked down to some right after he caught the ball on his 28-yard catch-and-run reception. (The officials reviewed the play and allowed it to stand.) A few plays later, Murray hit Michael Bennett for the 15-yard touchdown pass.
Tevin Washington is 2-of-4 for 26 yards -- which might actually be impressive, this being the Georgia Tech option-based offense -- but also has 30 yards on three runs. Roddy Jones has carried the ball five times for 41 yards. Georgia Tech just settled for a field goal after an 11-play drive.
