The Oregon Ducks got their game against the Oregon State Beavers started off the right way. After kicking off to start and giving up a couple short passes, to Terron Ward and Colby Prince, respectively, Michael Clay jumped in front of a Sean Mannion pass to pick him off at the Oregon State 38 yard line, gaining possession less than a minute into the game.
Taking over in Oregon State territory, Darron Thomas led the Ducks to the one-yard line, with completions of 10 and six yards. LaMichael James, who had three rushes of more than five yards on the short drive, scored from the one-yard line on first down to get the game's first touchdown. An Alejandro Maldonado extra point put Oregon up 7-0.
With the touchdown, James surpassed kicker Jard Siegel for first on the DUcks all-time scoring list. Kickers generally rank high on these lists, so passing him is a good milestone for James.
