Virginia Tech Vs. Virginia Score: Logan Thomas Run Gives Hokies Early Lead

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Virginia Tech Hokies are off to a good start in their quest to clinch the ACC's Coastal Division in their match-up with the Virginia Cavaliers. The fifth-ranked Hokies lead 7-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to a big defensive stop.

Quarterback Lance Thomas gave Virginia Tech the lead, but it was a big defensive stop that was key in the first quarter. The Cavaliers put together a 10-play, 75-yard drive that ended just three yards outside of the end zone when freshman running back Kevin Parks was only able to gain two yards on a fourth-and-three attempt.

Thomas has completed three of his five passes for 47 yards, but it was his feet that got Virginia Tech into the scoring column. Thomas, recruited by Virginia as a tight end, picked up 14 yards on his way to the end zone midway through the opening stanza.
