Auburn Vs. Alabama Halftime Score: Tide D Nearly Perfect

Stay connected with SB Nation

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 30 minutes away from playing for the national championship. The actual national championship game is almost a month and a half away and 50-something games away, so this feels insane to say, but it's pretty much true.

The score is 24-7 in favor of the Tide, a figure that feels similar to last year's, but unless the Auburn Tigers have the entire Carolina Panthers offense waiting in the locker room, a repeat sounds farfetched.

A.J. McCarron has 164 yards, Trent Richardson has 61, and Brad Smelley has six catches for 86 yards. It's been a power passing attack, of sorts, with Smelley, Richardson, and Eddie Lacy combining for most of McCarron's completions.

Auburn has 31 total yards, and its lone score came on defense. Unless you're Tennessee, it's not too hard for your offense to outproduce a 31-yard effort.
