Oregon State rallied nicely from a bit of bad luck to start their game against the Oregon Ducks. After throwing an interception and giving up a touchdown, the Beavers responded with a second quarter touchdown - a 58 yard completion to Jovan Stevenson from Sean Mannion to tie the game at 7-7.
But Oregon would go on to take a commanding lead. Oregon scored on their following possession, when Darron Thomas hid David Paulson for a 16-yard touchdown to go up 14-7. The drive was saved on third down when De'Anthony Thomas rushed for 19 yards to set up the score. Oregon State quickly were forced to punt, and Oregon put together another scoring drive, this one ending with a Darron Thomas eight-yard pass to De'Anthony Thomas for a touchdown.
The two teams would go on to exchange punts, and Oregon took over with 1:44 remaining in the half. Naturally, they drove down the field, on the back of four straight completions from Darron Thomas, one of them going for 31 yards to David Paulson. Thomas would hit Barner for a 16 yard touchdown as the clock wound down, putting the Ducks up 28-7 at the half.
