Auburn Vs. Alabama 2011 Final Score: No Iron Bowl Comeback This Time

The Alabama Crimson Tide are going to finish the regular season ranked No. 2 in the country, and unless the Oklahoma St. Cowboys can throttle the Oklahoma Cowboys, they'll see the LSU Tigers again in New Orleans. The 2011 Iron Bowl's final score: 42-14.

At one point in the fourth quarter, Alabama's defense had gained only nine fewer yards than had the Auburn Tigers offense. A 35-yard interception return by Dee Milliner made it 35-14 with about 14 minutes left, slamming the door on the faint, whispy hopes of another Auburn comeback.

Trent Richardson finished with 208 final yards, 70 more than Auburn's entire offense.

Bama concludes its year with zero regulation losses and a solitary setback, which came against the nation's top team. It'll take either a human revolt or against the concept of a rematch or an astounding performance by OSU to thwart an all-SEC national championship game. It doesn't appear that even a LSU loss in the SEC Championship can stop this train.

Auburn Vs. Alabama Halftime Score: Tide D Nearly Perfect

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 30 minutes away from playing for the national championship. The actual national championship game is almost a month and a half away and 50-something games away, so this feels insane to say, but it's pretty much true.

The score is 24-7 in favor of the Tide, a figure that feels similar to last year's, but unless the Auburn Tigers have the entire Carolina Panthers offense waiting in the locker room, a repeat sounds farfetched.

A.J. McCarron has 164 yards, Trent Richardson has 61, and Brad Smelley has six catches for 86 yards. It's been a power passing attack, of sorts, with Smelley, Richardson, and Eddie Lacy combining for most of McCarron's completions.

Auburn has 31 total yards, and its lone score came on defense. Unless you're Tennessee, it's not too hard for your offense to outproduce a 31-yard effort.

Iron Bowl 2011 Score Update: Auburn Breaks Up Alabama Aerial Display

The Alabama Crimson Tide: a team famous for its passing. That's not true, though early on against the Auburn Tigers, Bama has gone deep twice with great success both times. If they could avoid handing the ball to Auburn in the end zone, though, they'd be doing just fine.

A.J. McCarron now has touchdowns of 41 and 35 yards, but a McCarron strip-sack fumble that bounded into the end zone has made it 14-7 Tide in the first quarter.

That was about all the offense Auburn has managed so far -- they have only 33 otherwise, reaching midfield before pooch punting on their best effort. Then again, the shoddy field position Bama was stuck with led to that Auburn touchdown.

Auburn Vs. Alabama Score: Flea Flicker Puts Tide On Top

Alabama Crimson Tide running back Trent Richardson helped with a 41-yard touchdown pass, and is thus the surefire Heisman Trophy pick. Wait, all he did was flip the ball back to A.J. McCarron. Well, the threat of Richardson terrified the entire Auburn Tigers defense into letting Kenny Bell saunter into the end zone without diversion.

Either way, it's now 7-0, Bama, after some offensive sputters. A nine-play, 81-yard scoring drive will do the trick.

McCarron is already six-of-seven for 81 yards, a surprising stat for many who haven't watched just how much time Alabama's spent passing this year. Richardson has 13 yards rushing on four carries, but he does get credit for a portion of that flea flicker touchdown bomb.

Auburn's offense has yet to participate in an impactful way.

Alabama Vs. Auburn: Crimson Tide Needs Another New Weapon Or Two

Alabama will continue to be handcuffed offensively against both Auburn and, potentially, LSU in the BCS Championship game, if A.J. McCarron cannot grow to trust a few more weapons on passing downs.
