Arizona State's Dennis Erickson is reportedly going to be fired in the next few days.
Despite his Arizona State Sun Devils reaching bowl eligibility for the first time since 2007, Dennis Erickson's days in the desert may be numbered. Doug Haller of the Arizona Republic cites multiple sources who say that Erickson will be fired, possibly in the next few days, while CBS Sports' Doug Morgan reports that a news conference could come as soon as Monday.
Erickson's Arizona State team the only Pac-12 South squad to beat USC in 2011, and was still alive in the Pac-12 South race entering Week 12, but four straight losses to finish the season at 6-6 knocked the Sun Devils out of contention for a berth in the first Pac-12 Championship Game and likely sealed Erickson's fate.
Erickson has been at Arizona State since 2007, when his Sun Devils tied for the Pac-10 championship and went to the Holiday Bowl. Since that first year, the Sun Devils have been 21-27 overall, and have failed to post a winning record in conference play.
