The Air Force Falcons can clinch their second consecutive Commander-in-Chief trophy with a win over the Army Black Nights on Saturday afternoon. Air Force defeated Navy 35-34 in Annapolis on October 1 and, with a win over Army, would earn their 18th CIC trophy in 2011, the 40th year of the trophy's existence.
Air Force has the nation's third-ranked rushing offense, averaging 326.9 yards per game. Asher Clark leads the team with 654 yards on the ground. Mike DeWitt (410 yards) and quarterback Tim Jefferson (298 yards) are second and third in yardage, with Jefferson (seven) and DeWitt (six) ranking 1-2 in rushing touchdowns on the season. Jefferson has passed for 1,000 yards on the season with eight touchdowns, with Jonathan Warzecka leading the Falcons with 22 receptions for 275 yards and three touchdowns.
The 3-5 Black Nights have the nation's top-ranked rushing offense, averaging 369 yards per game. Quarterback Trent Steelman spearheads the attack with 118 carries for 576 yards and 11 touchdowns, while Raymond Maples has 759 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. Senior rover Steven Erzinger leads the defense with 73 tackles, 7.5 of which have been for a loss.
