South Carolina control their own destiny in the SEC East, but they come up against a tough test in the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday
Though it might not have the luster of Alabama vs. LSU, the SEC has a second massive game going on this Saturday night. The Arkansas Razorbacks are looking to keep winning in case one of the top two teams in the country slips up post-game of the century, while the South Carolina Gamecocks control their own destiny in the SEC East and will earn a trip to the SEC Championship game if they win out.
South Carolina Gamecocks blog Garnet And Black Attack are confident that their team is one on the rise, while Arkansas are currently going in the wrong direction.
On the one hand, the Hogs throttled an Auburn team that beat us. On the other, they struggled against Ole Miss and Vandy, one of which we whipped and the other of which I feel sure that we would whip. The Hogs were also taken to the woodshed by 'Bama, and while I certainly don't wish to diminish how god the Tide are, I'm also of a mind to believe that any team that loses that badly to anyone is capable of losing to Carolina. I also feel like we match up fairly well with Arkansas. The Hogs were embarrassed last week by Vandy's offense and didn't show the defensive acumen that Tennessee and Mississippi St. used to slow us down. In sum, I feel like these may be two teams going in different directions, with Arkansas sinking and Carolina keeping its head above water.
Arkansas Razorbacks blog Arkansas Expats doesn't disagree that their team hasn't been great, but thinks that there's still plenty of time to turn around their season and that a win over South Carolina could be the jumping off point for their resurgence.
[W]obbly wins against the likes of Troy, Texas A&M, Ole Miss and Vandy have to leave you worried about how the rest of 2011 will unfold. However, as last year showed, things can change in a hurry. Let's all take a deep breath and see what the final month of the regular season has to offer. November is here, and the Hogs have more than enough time to make 2011 a year to remember.
Game date, time: 7:15 pm ET, Saturday, November 6
Location: Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville, Arkansas
TV channel: ESPN/ESPN3
Spread: Arkansas favored by 5 points
Series history: Arkansas leads 12-7
