Coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Minnesota, the Iowa Hawkeyes, wearing America-inspired helmets for the game, look like a completely different team early on at home against the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines.
After holding the Wolverines to a punt on their opening possession, the Hawkeyes mixed the run and the pass to drive 76 yards on six plays to take a 7-0 lead. Marcus Coker reached the end zone on a bruising four-yard run. The play was set up by two straight big gains on slant passes from junior quarterback James Vandenberg.
The Wolverines promptly went three-and-out on their next possession, giving the Hawkeyes the ball back near the 50 yard line. So far, everything is going Iowa's way.
