Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles suffered a torn ACL on Saturday, ending his college career. Broyles was carted off the field after landing awkwardly and was see tearing up on the sideline before he was taken to the locker room. Following the game, we learned of the extent of his injuries, which will require surgery.
According to Travis Haney, Broyles will undergo surgery within the next month.
Just a devastating blow for Oklahoma and Broyles. For the Sooners, Broyles' injury deprives the offense of its top target going forward. Oklahoma is still in the Big 12 title hunt, and a date with Oklahoma State looms large at the end of the season.
More importantly, this ends Broyles' record-breaking career at Oklahoma and significantly damages his professional prospects. With recovery typically in the range of a year, Broyles faces a long road ahead as he tries to get back to where he was before the injury.
