Houston Nutt To Be Fired After Egg Bowl, According To Report

Stay connected with SB Nation

Mississippi Rebels coach Houston Nutt has perhaps the country's hottest seat -- and that was before losing his 12th-straight SEC game, and losing it to the lowly Kentucky Wildcats. After the game, he was asked about his job status moving forward:

I don't know. I don't know. That's not for me to decide. I'd like to be. I plan on being. But that's not for me to decide.

According to one report, the decision has already been made. Citing sources, Red Cup Rebellion reports Nutt is aware he won't coach Ole Miss beyond the rivalry game against the Mississippi St. Bulldogs. The report also states Nutt will meet with administrators soon to determine whether he'll remain as coach until then.

Associate head coach Gunter Brewer is expected to take over as interim head coach, whenever it is that Nutt is dismissed. We'll trust this report is accurate, though Nutt is quite clearly on the way out regardless of what he's been told.
